The Director General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah has conducted inspections of various road projects in the capital Territory directing contractors handling the road projects to set up work plans according to specifications.
The purpose of the inspection, according to Ukah was to assess the progress, quality, and alignment of projects with the government infrastructural polices even as he commended the Engineers for their unwavering dedication and adherence to high standards.
He encouraged the team to maintain their momentum to ensure timely completion of these projects saying; “To the level of work done so far that I’ve seen, I can Indeed say there is great progress with the on going projects of which the rehabilitation of Jarret street and construction of the part of Kano street/Okocha street, is 95% ready for commissioning. Okonweze street off Ezenei Avenue will be ready before the ending of March but Odozi Obodo might probably stress till April, so far I am happy with the nature of the job.”
“Through the technical inspection, we have identified some gaps and funding challenges which are addressed. I commend the contractors for a good job and urged them to work towards timely completion of the projects.” he said.
Ukah, however, decried the indiscriminate release of water by residents and hotel owners on some section of the Odozi Obodo road and drainage noting that the trend was inimical to sustainable roads infrastructure development.
“It is disappointing to see some people destroying the roads and drainages in the name of businesses, they should observe the right of way. Government will not condone the act and it must stop.” He said.
Key locations visited included; “The Ogbeogonogo market water storm project down to Ogbeilo through ugbeke square, the Okonweze street project off Ezenei Avenue, the construction of Odozi Obodo/Aninta/Anenta street off Ezenei Avenue and the rehabilitation of Jarret street and construction of part of Kano street/ Okocha street, off Dennis Osadebay way Asaba.”
