Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has described the traditional institution as an indispensable partners in the socio economic and cultural development of the state.
Governor Oborevwori stated this during the official presentation of staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Obi Chukwunomso Oraeze Justin Nwoko lV, the Obi of Idumuje- Ugboko at the palace ground, Idumuje Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The presentation of staff of office to the Obi of Idumuje Ugboko,Obi Chukwunonso Oreze Nwoko 1V which had lingered for some years became a reality following the approval of the staff of office by the state executive council, threw the entire kingdom into jubilation as evident during the event.
The governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme said the traditional institution remained a priceless legacy in any African society for which there was no credible substitute,noting that the institution was a rallying point for the people.
While congratulating the Idumuje Ugboko monarch on his successful ascension to throne of his forefathers, the governor urged him to encourage the free flow of communication, dialogue and consultation with all segments of his kingdom.
He advised him to be transparent, while upholding the virtues of justice, fair play and equity in dealing with his subjects and ensure peace reigned in his kingdom as well as report any threat to peace in his kingdom to the appropriate authorities.
Governor Oborevwori assured the people that their requests for the rehabilitation of the three boreholes , Comprehensive Secondary School, and erosion control measures to check the menace of erosion as well as the rehabilitation of the road leading to Edo State would be channeled to the appropriate government agencies for necessary action.
The governor told the Idumuje Ugboko kingdom that they would not be abandoned in his administration's development plans in like with his More Agenda.
The Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Council, Hon. Bazim Chinye commended the people for standing on the path of truth and being resilient in the face of daunting challenges in the past years to preserve the cultural heritage.
He said Idumuje Ugboko was one of the ten communities in Aniocha North whose system of traditional rulership was primogeniture and expressed the hope that the tussle over the Issele Asagba stool would be resolved like that of Idumuje Ugboko.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza said the kingdom was agog with excitement saying the people were grateful for the recognition given to their rightful monarch.
He said anybody other than the Obi Chukwunonso Nwoko 1V was an imposter and urged the people to continue their support to the governor.
The President General, Idumuje -Ugboko Development Union,Mr Christian Chiazor who gave a historical perspective of the kingdom and its ascension,thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for restoring peace to the Kingdom with the presentation of staff of office to their monarch.
He highlighted some challenges facing the Kingdom to include the need for the rehabilitation of the Comprehensive Secondary School which was in a state of decay and the three moribund boreholes as well as erosion control measures to address the gully erosion in the community among others.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the staff of office to Obi Chukwunonso Justin Oreze Nwoko 1V as the Obi of Idumuje Ugboko.
