The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS), Senator Ned Nwoko, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing association with the party since its inception in 1999.
Ned Nwoko in a resignation letter dated January 30, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 8 in Aniocha North Local Government Area, attributed his departure to worsening internal divisions and irreconcilable factional conflicts within the party.
The Senator lamented that these divisions had hindered unity and made it increasingly difficult to serve the best interests of his constituents.
Highlighting a recent incident on January 29, 2025, Nwoko described how key PDP functionaries resorted to physical altercations, a development he viewed as a reflection of the deep-rooted crisis plaguing the party.
Irrespective of his exit, Senator Nwoko expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the platform to contest the 2022/2023 senatorial election, allowing him to connect with the people of Delta North and present his vision for development.
He however noted that, the party’s current structure in the state had stifled his ability to fulfill the commitments he made to his constituents.
After careful consideration, Senator Nwoko concluded that leaving the PDP was necessary to uphold his obligations to the people he represents.
While bidding farewell to the party, he reassured his supporters of his continued commitment to the progress and unity of Delta North and Nigeria.
He extended his appreciation to the PDP leadership and members for their past support and wished the party success in its future endeavors.
