President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he will give a State of the Nation address to Nigerians on the occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

Bayo Onanuga, a presidential spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to him, the address is fixed for 7 am on Tuesday.

He noted that the broadcast is part of activities to mark this year’s Independence Day.

“The broadcast is part of activities to commemorate the 64th independence anniversary of the nation.

“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast,” the statement reads.

DAILY POST reports that this is the second Independence Day celebration under Tinubu since his election in February 2023.

Earlier, the Nigerian government announced that this year’s Independence Day will be celebrated on a low key.

This comes as Nigerians grapple with high inflation, which stood at 32.15 per cent and skyrocketing high energy costs, resulting in economic hardship.
