In a bid to make some dilapidated roads in Abavo community, Ika South Local Government Area, motorable, the local government, taking advantage of the dry season, has begun the grading of some major earth roads in the locality.
The road grading exercise, which started earlier in the local government area with some streets in Agbor metropolis, is to ensure that some unmotorable roads in the area are given facelifts before the rain season sets in.
Speaking after inspecting some of the affected roads in Oyoko, Abavo, including Aghedoh and Ochei-Ebimaro streets, the Vice Chairperson of Ika South Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Glory Amamosa Onyeagbor, applauded the local government Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, for the initiative, which, she declared, was timely and necessary to boost socio- economic activities in the community.
Hon. Onyeagbor maintained that Engr. Ehiwarior- led administration was poised to improve the lives of residents of Ika South Local Government Area going by the many people-oriented projects that had so far been executed, with many more currently at different levels of completion.
The Vice Chairperson revealed that the exercise would cut across the 20 State wards in the local government area, assuring that no community would be left out, as the effort to build a better and more prosperous Ika South Local Government Area was in top gear.
She thanked the people of Abavo for their support for the Ehiwarior- led government, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and urged them not to relent as, according to her, “more dividends of democracy are in the offing as we march forward in our bid to give good governance to our people.
“Let us continue to pray and support the PDP-led governments in Ika South and at the State level as they strive to do MORE for the benefit of our people.
“There is no doubt that the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is yielding results that are glaring for all to see. Also, the Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has been able to put necessary infrastructure in place that clearly shows he is here to work and deliver on electoral promises made to our people.”
In the same vein, a community leader, Hon. Friday Nahioma, remarked that there had been a new vigour in governance in Ika South since the coming of Engr. Ehiwarior as Chairman.
Hon. Nahioma, who is the Secretary of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ika South chapter, commended the inclusive leadership style of Engr. Ehiwarior, which, he pointed out, had altered the political trajectory of Ika South, with evident of efficient service delivery to the people.
He urged the Chairman not to deviate from his set goals so that his administration would become the standard to measure future administrations in the local government area.
