In a major infrastructural boost for Ika North East Local Government Area, construction has officially commenced on the long-awaited 1-kilometer stretch of Upper Efeizomor Road. Following the approval by the Hon. Monday Odigwe-led administration, heavy-duty equipment roared to life today, clearing unsuitable materials to pave the way for road stabilization and drainage construction.

For residents of the area, the road project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade—it is a long-overdue relief. Many had lost hope of ever seeing a properly constructed road in their neighborhood, having endured years of hardship due to poor road conditions, particularly during the rainy season. The project’s timely commencement ahead of the rains has further boosted public confidence in the local government’s commitment to development.

Hon. Monday Odigwe, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration's dedication to improving road networks across the local government. He emphasized that quality road infrastructure is key to economic growth and community well-being. "We are determined to ensure that our people enjoy the dividends of democracy through sustainable projects that enhance their daily lives," he stated.

Community leaders and youth groups have also hailed the project as a landmark achievement. Mr. Chukwuma Eze, a resident, expressed gratitude, noting that the new road would ease transportation, improve business activities, and enhance property value in the area. “This is a great development. We thank the Council Chairman for listening to our cries and taking action,” he said.

With construction now in full swing, engineers on-site assured that the road would be completed to modern standards, including durable pavement and effective drainage systems. As the bulldozer roars on Upper Efeizomor Road, residents eagerly anticipate the transformation of their community, a testament to the local government’s resolve to deliver on its promises.
