His Royal Majesty, Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, has issued a stern warning against any attempts to create autonomous communities within Asaba Kingdom, emphasizing that such actions would not be tolerated.
The Asagba while speaking during the Asagba Executive Council meeting reaffirmed his commitment to the unity and authority of Asaba Kingdom.
He said; “Asaba is known for its hospitality, but that does not give anyone the right to carve out autonomous communities within our kingdom,”.
“There can only be one king in Asaba, and any attempt to undermine this authority will be firmly resisted.”
The Asagba’s proclamation comes amid growing concerns over unauthorized claims of self-rule within the kingdom, a development he described as divisive and unacceptable.
In a related development, a native doctor, Dr. Francis Anija, was publicly de-robbed before the Asagba in an event that underscores the monarch’s unwavering stance on traditional order and discipline.
The Onoi Ahaba, Ogbueshi Uche Nwajei, announced that Dr. Anija must undergo the i’kpu alu (cleansing of the land) ceremony within the next eight days to atone for his actions. Failure to comply, he warned, will result in the banishment of Dr. Anija from Asaba Kingdom.
To further safeguard the unity and integrity of the kingdom, the Asagba has charged Ogbueshi Murphy Arinze with the responsibility of protecting Asaba’s interests in the Ikpoto satellite area of Asaba.
“As the Anya Asagba in Ikpoto, it is your duty to remain vigilant and ensure that the peace and authority of this kingdom are upheld at all costs,” HRM Asagba Azinge instructed.
The Asagba’s firm stance on these issues highlights his dedication to maintaining traditional authority, cultural heritage, and unity in Asaba Kingdom.
Observers say the monarch’s actions send a clear message that any challenge to the kingdom’s territorial integrity will not be tolerated, as Asaba continues to uphold its rich customs and traditions.
